What does your Google CV say about you? How about your online presence in the blogosphere? Where do your personal branding efforts land you in the SERPs?

Lost? Although it’s relatively easy to monitor and manage your personal or corporate branding, take a look at these definitions of important terms for a quick introduction or refresher.

Google CV
– The Google results for your name or brand. Find out more about Google CVs by reading this post.

SERPs – An abbreviation for Search Engine Results Pages. Not only do you want to be listed here, but you want to be as close to that number one spot as possible. It’s not only good for visibility, but for credibility as well.

Online Visibility – It’s no good being listed in Google’s search results if your result is on the 10th page. To get to the top you’ll have to be active online, create a buzz and strategically compose your content and online interactions. Read this post on online visibility for more information.

Web Presence
- Being represented online on a host of channels – blogs, social media sites, business networking sites - is what is known as having web presence.

Branding
– Marking an item or concept with a trade name or other formal identification, and making it easily recognisable for the consumer.

Personal Branding
– Marketing oneself as a brand. Personal branding is key to success in today’s world. This post on personal brand management will give you more information.

Online Reputation
– Just like your offline reputation, your online reputation is defined by what is being conveyed about you on the Internet. With the rise of consumer generated media anyone and everyone can say what they like about you. The online conversation about you can easily be monitored and analysed - credibility measured and your influence realised.

Inter Linking
– Linking between the individual pages on your website or between blog posts makes it easier for search engine spiders to understand your content while also ensuring that they – and users - are able to reach every page. The more links you have coming in, the more relevant that page will be in Google’s eyes. The more relevant that page is to Google, the higher it will move on the SERPs.

Blogosphere
– The ever-expanding realm of blogs (‘web logs’) is known as the blogosphere. Find out more about blogging by reading this post.

Link Building – Connecting destinations via links (incoming, outgoing and internal) is essential in bringing in traffic and search engine spiders – this has a big impact on your position on the SERPs, depending on the quality of link.

Free LookupPage Package – Our free web presence package affords you services like basic visitor information, link management, search engine ranking services and, of course, your personal profile page.

Basic LookupPage Package
– The LookupPage basic package gives you extensive control over links, tracking and search engine services, your own domain and direct messaging – all in an ad and spam free environment.
