Search engine optimisation, or SEO, is one of the many self marketing tactics born from the evolution of the internet. What is it? Creating and managing content in a logical structure for users and search engines to grasp – raising your website or blog up the SERPs being the ultimate goal.
It sounds tricky, and it can be – but by following a few simple rules of SEO, you can improve your personal branding and build your Google CV.
Keywords, Phrases and Themes
Search engines digest information through keywords and other small building blocks of artificial intelligence. Do a quick search for free keyword research sites and take a look at the search volumes for popular words around your branding themes – see if there are prominent variations worth incorporating into your content.
Keywords are best when consistent across the page, but in unique combinations on the individual pages. Make sure you use keywords in: content, headings, meta data, URLs and image text where possible.
Linking For Success
Links are ultra important to SEO. Without them, search engines wouldn’t know you exist and there would be no way for a user to reach your site without them unless they have the exact address. It’s important to have links coming in to your site – start by linking all your sites and blogs from your LookupPage profile. You should also link between the pages within your website or blog when optimising your content and structuring information. Link related blog posts, or within the copy of your website, but remember to keep those keywords relevant to the page you are linking to.
SEO With LookupPage
By registering for a LookupPage profile you can boost the search results for your name. You will be able to add personal information, a profile picture, a professional biography and so on. You will also be able to manage your links so anyone who visits your profile will be able to see what you’d like them to: your blog, website, social media profiles etc.
When you sign up for the LookupPage Pro package you will be able to boost your SEO efforts even more. By using this package you will be entitled to the following which will benefit the SEO on your name or on your brand name:
- Display your information.
- Manage your links.
- Comprehensive visitors' information and analysis.

- Get your personalised domain name (www.yourname.com or similar) – which will do wonders when you’re trying to build your Google CV.
- Display your business info, contact details, logo and link.
- List your business on the Business Lookup. This will help you promote your business by allowing you to add a direct link to your website from an independent source. You will also benefit from relevant traffic to your site as well as better SERPs for your company’s name.
Remember that in order to create an online presence you will need to optimise your content for your name. If you are concerned by the number of people who share your name, please read this post on Claiming Back Your Google CV.

I like this site. Loads of information on marketing, easy to use and navigate too.
Still trying to work out how to make the best use of it but it's definitely one of the most straightforward sites of its kind.

Honestly, out performing people who have a similar name as you isn't super difficult, at least not in my experience. Build links and get the word out, because more likely than not the ones sharing your name aren't doing that.

Thanks for the comment - It is just a matter of time until more people manage their online personal brand and then things could get more difficult and challenging...
